Extend School Weekends to Three Days for Better Mental Health

The Issue

I've personally struggled with the overwhelming demands of school, often feeling so stressed that I dreaded stepping into the classroom. This is a sentiment echoed by countless students across the globe. The current five-day school week leaves little time for rest and recovery, contributing to rising levels of stress and anxiety among students. According to a study 28% of children aged 12-18 have not attended school over the last year due to stress.

By extending the weekend to three days, we can provide students with much-needed time for relaxation, hobbies, family interaction and self-care - all crucial elements in maintaining mental health. A longer weekend could also lead to more productive learning during the week as students would be better rested and more focused.

This isn't just about convenience; it's about prioritizing mental health in our education system. Let's give ourselves and our future children a chance at healthier minds alongside academic growth. Please sign this petition if you believe in creating an education system that values mental well-being as much as academic achievement.
