I, like many others, find the traditional school hours exhausting and less productive. Trying to give my all for five days a week within the current time frame is a challenge that affects not only me but also countless students across the country. It's time we reconsidered our school schedules.

Research shows that longer school days can lead to improved academic performance. A study by The National Center on Time & Learning found that schools adding hours to their day saw significant gains in student achievement (National Center on Time & Learning). By starting at 8am and ending at 5pm, we allow more room for active learning and reduce the rush often associated with shorter school days.

Moreover, this change would align better with working parents' schedules, reducing the need for after-school care. According to a report by Afterschool Alliance, parents of more than 19 million children said they would enroll their kids in afterschool programs if they were available (Afterschool Alliance).

We believe extending school hours is an essential step towards improving our education system's efficiency and effectiveness. It's about making sure every student has an equal opportunity to succeed while balancing their wellbeing.
