As a frequent visitor to Rest Haven Cemetery, I am deeply saddened by the recent gate that has been put up to keep the community out after dark. For years, it has been a blessing for many of us to visit our loved ones at night, especially considering most people work until 6pm or later. However, I understand that there needs to be closing times for safety reasons.

That being said, I respectfully request that Rest Haven Cemetery extend its closing time to accommodate those who are unable to visit during regular hours due to their work schedules and other responsibilities. It would be greatly appreciated if the cemetery could remain open until at least 9pm.

According to a survey conducted by AARP in 2017, approximately 40% of Americans work past 6pm on weekdays. This means that many individuals are unable to visit their loved ones during regular cemetery hours. Additionally, with Arizona's scorching summer heat and heavy traffic during rush hour, it can be difficult for some visitors to make it before closing time.

By extending the closing time of Rest Haven Cemetery, more people will have the opportunity to pay their respects and honor their loved ones without having to worry about rushing or missing out entirely due to scheduling conflicts.

I urge Rest Haven Cemetery management and staff members consider this request as a way of showing compassion towards those who wish nothing more than an opportunity for closure with their deceased family members and friends.
