Extend Full SEPTA Route 24 Bus Services to Southampton

The Issue

Some still recall when Bucks County was a peaceful rural region. However, since the 1970s, it has evolved into a bustling suburban area. Yet, the SEPTA Route 24 bus, which serves as a public transportation lifeline connecting Frankford Transportation Center and Huntingdon Valley, barely touches Southampton. The minimal service that Southampton receives poses significant challenges for the residents of this Central Bucks county region, who lack an efficient method of public transportation linking them to Philadelphia.

This issue hits close to my heart. The region was once a natural haven, but as towns have sprouted and communities have grown, the need for dependable public transportation has risen. Unfortunately, the desire for a revived Newtown Line dwindled when it was turned into a rail trail. With SEPTA Route 24 being the sole potential solution, we find our hopes pinned on extending the service to cover Southampton comprehensively.

SEPTA's vital role in transportation should not be understated. The authority moves over one million passengers daily across the region, according to the American Public Transportation Association's fact book. With this reach, extending Route 24 to Southampton can cater to the increasing public transportation needs of its growing population.

Now is the time to address this pressing issue. The local government should urge SEPTA to extend full Route 24 bus services to Southampton, granting its residents the same efficient and reliable transportation enjoyed by those living along the current route. Together, we can ensure a less stressful, more connected future for all inhabitants of Central Bucks County. Sign this petition and lend your voice to this desperate call for change.
