As a devoted public servant and military spouse, I have committed my life to the service of our great nation. I bear witness to the tireless dedication of those who commit to the notion of freedom daily. In recognition of the immense sacrifices we make, I propose an extension of our celebration of freedom from Juneteenth to the Fourth of July, marking a significant 2-week holiday period. This proposition aligns with the upcoming 250th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence which embodies the very essence of our freedom. 

The U.S. is one of the few industrialized nations with no mandated annual leave for its workers, impacting both our physical and mental well-being ('No-Vacation Nation Revisited', Center For Economic And Policy Research, 2013). A 2-week national holiday would not only celebrate our freedom, but provide much-needed rest and reflection time for citizens and benefactors of this remarkable liberty.
