PillPack is an innovative company that helps patients manage their medications. They take all your medications and sort them into convenient packs so you know when and how to take them. They have been a lifesaver for my 90-year-old father. The nurses and my family no longer worry about making a mistake that could impact my dad’s health.

On April 30, Express Scripts will no longer cover access to PillPack for thousands of patients. People like my dad will have to pay hundreds in extra fees to continue the service. I believe Express Scripts’ actions are profit-seeking, and not based on the needs and interests of patients. They see PillPack as a potential future rival, and want to prevent their innovative service from thriving.

Express Scripts is the largest pharmacy benefit manager in the United States, controlling 85 million Americans’ access to prescription medication. Recently, they were accused of overcharging customers by $3 billion. Now, they are stifling innovative startups like PillPack from providing services that change healthcare management for the better. It’s time for Express Scripts to act in the interest of the millions of people who rely on them.
