Express Gratitude to Our Firefighters and First Responders for Preserving Pine Barrens

Express Gratitude to Our Firefighters and First Responders for Preserving Pine Barrens
The Issue
We seek to acknowledge and thank the brave Firefighters and First Responders from Eighteen fire departments and six Emergency Medical Service departments who courageously combated the blaze in the Westhampton Pine Barrens, preventing a monumental catastrophe in one of the last preserved green spaces on Long Island. Pine Barrens, a significant natural landscape, is home to an array of unique plant species and the habitat to diverse wildlife. According to the Long Island Pine Barrens Society, an estimated 100,000 acres of land is preserved in this region, providing us with clean drinking water and offering a critical designated nature study area. Without the quick and efficient response of our heroic fire and emerency services, this vital ecological sanctuary could have been destroyed. But only 600 acres were affected which is a testament to our first responder’s quick instinct and hard work! By signing this petition, we aim to show our heartfelt appreciation for these heroes who put their lives on the line to protect and preserve our environment. Add your signature and express your gratitude today.
