Violation of Privacy & Boundaries at Live In Fitness

In what world is it acceptable for a boss to enter your private room — even if it's on staff premises — rifle through your personal belongings, and then interrogate you about why you have condoms?

This actually happened to me. And no, this wasn't a concerned parent or family member — this was my employer.  Although, he won't admit that at all.  

I was 27 years old. Not a child. This wasn’t just a gross violation of privacy, it was sexual harassment. Call it what it is.

At the time, I was more innocent, more trusting. I didn’t have my phone out to record the incident. I didn’t anticipate I would need to protect myself against the very people I was working for. I certainly didn’t expect to have to justify why I carried basic sexual protection, which was for my own safety — including the terrifying possibility of needing it in the case of sexual assault. The irony isn’t lost on me, considering how this invasive confrontation began.

Sadly, this wasn’t the only issue at Live In Fitness. I was brought on under false pretenses. I spent hours on the phone and in person with Eric and his wife, discussing a collaborative agreement to document my experiences and help grow their business. I gave them my time, my energy, and my good faith — only to be treated like I never existed.

They completely ghosted our agreement, used my work, and took advantage of my kindness. When it came time to acknowledge me as a professional, as a person — they chose to ignore and erase me.

To anyone watching from the outside, their online image might look glossy and successful. But if you've ever dealt with people like this, you’ll recognize the narcissism and manipulation. It’s the same energy con artists thrive on: charming on the surface, exploitative behind closed doors.
