We are at a critical juncture in our fight to end the "wounded veteran tax," and we need your immediate action to force Congress to move.
On April 30th, H. Res. 1247 was introduced in the House. This is a crucial procedural rule that would finally bring the Major Richard Star Act (H.R. 2102) to the House floor for debate and a vote, bypassing the gridlock that has stalled it for years.
However, we need to be clear about the reality of where we stand: The Major Star Act will remain completely stuck in committee if we don’t mass-contact the House right now. Despite overwhelming bipartisan cosponsorship, congressional leadership continues to drag their feet. They will not allow a vote on H. Res. 1247 or the underlying bill unless we apply an undeniable amount of grassroots pressure.
Unfortunately, we cannot wait around for the traditional, massive veteran organizations to lead this charge. The VFW has yet to push a community action for their members to demand that their Representatives sign the discharge petition. Because they haven't mobilized their massive membership base for this specific, vital push, it is entirely up to us to pick up the slack. We have to be the voice that forces their hand.
Here is exactly how you can take action in less than 60 seconds:
The Veterans Justice Alliance has built a seamless tool designed to send bulk emails directly to House Representatives.
Click here to open the tool:
https://passtheact.pages.dev/
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.
Use the tool to automatically send emails to the House demanding they support H. Res. 1247 and sign the discharge petition. Please send all batches available!
Our combat-injured medical retirees have already sacrificed their health and careers for this country. It is an absolute injustice that their retirement pay is stripped away dollar-for-dollar just because they receive VA disability.
We have the numbers to force a vote, but only if we act together today. Please click the link, scroll to the bottom, and make your voice heard.
Stay in the fight!
