Jailed for peacefully defending human rights
Félix Navarro and Sayli Navarro Álvarez, father and daughter human rights defenders were condemned to nine and eight years respectively, and their prison sentenced confirmed on Monday.
What did Félix Navarro and Sayli Navarro Álvarez do? Following the July 11 protests they went to a local police station to inquire about the plight of jailed protesters.
Félix Navarro has been jailed since July 2021, and Sayli Navarro Álvarez was taken away in chains on April 18, 2022 after losing her "appeal."

Chained Hands & Feet, Activist Sayli Navarro Enters Prison

HAVANA TIMES – The Lady in White Sayli Navarro Álvarez entered prison this Monday, after losing the trial on appeal of the sentence received in March for public disorder, attack and contempt, for participating in the peaceful demonstrations of July 11, 2021. Her father, Félix Navarro, in provisional prison since last July, also had his sentence ratified.
The father was sentenced to nine years in prison and the daughter to eight, in a trial held in January in Jovellanos, Matanzas.
In the photo below are Sayli Navarro (daughter), Sonia Álvarez (wife/mother) and Félix Navarro ( husband/father). Both Sayli and Félix are now jailed for defending human rights.
