The Issue
As a single mother of three children attending schools within the Chino Valley Unified School District, I face daily struggles with transportation. One of my children is at Edwin Rhodes Elementary and the other two are at Chino High School. Both schools do not provide bus services to our area due to eligibility criteria, despite us living 3.7 miles from the high school. This lack of transportation has created significant challenges for my family.
This is not just my story; many families are experiencing similar hardships. Parents who work full-time, single parents, and families with multiple children find it difficult to ensure their children reach school safely and on time. The current policy disproportionately affects those who already face significant daily struggles, reducing educational opportunities for our children.
