Expand SEPTA Regional Rail: Re-open the Schuylkill Valley Metro

Expand SEPTA Regional Rail: Re-open the Schuylkill Valley Metro
The Issue
Septa has the 5th busiest commuter rail system in the US, with more than 132,000 daily riders.
Over 110,000 vehicles travel on route 422 each day, heading towards Philadelphia.
This highway simply cannot accommodate the amount of traffic that continues to grow each year, as the suburbs become more and more populated.
The Schuylkill Valley Metro (a commuter rail connecting Philadelphia and Reading, PA) has been extensively studied, planned, and proposed several times in the past 15 years.
The Schuylkill Valley Metro project has been halted due to a lack of funding.
If the federal government funded a project to extend the regional rail in Southeastern Pennsylvania, many jobs would be created, traffic on the highway and vehicle emissions would decrease, and many of the towns along the rail (Pottstown, Phoenixville, Valley Forge, etc.) would see an economic boom.
Those signing this petition are showing their support of the Schuylkill Valley Metro project. Local representatives, planning commissions, and state legislators need to re-evaluate this rail project and seek federal funding along with private sector funding to see this project come to fruition.
