The issue

Dear Jo Haylen, Minister for Transport, NSW

I am writing as a concerned resident and deprived user of the Cooee Busways service to request an expansion of the service or a similar on-demand transport provider, to include additional suburbs in Sydney's North West region (at this time suburbs circled within Grantham Farm, Riverstone, Vineyard, Box Hill, Rouse Hill and Marsden Park).

The Cooee Busways service has proven to be a reliable and convenient mode of transportation for commuters that consist of young families, essential shift workers, students (including school aged children), and individuals with limited mobility. However, there are numerous underserved suburbs with similar demographic in our region that lack public transportation options. This has led to limited access to employment opportunities, education, healthcare facilities, and increased traffic congestion in our area.

Extending the on demand service or similar to these underserved suburbs would offer the following benefits:

  • Improved Accessibility: Extending the service or similar would enable residents to access essential services, such as hospitals, schools, shopping centers, and employment hubs, fostering greater inclusivity and supporting families and individuals without private vehicles
  • Reduced cost: Residents, particularly individuals and young families and individuals would not require the first or the second vehicle
  • Reduction in traffic and commute times: Residents in the area would use the on-demand transportation, which in turn would alleviate traffic congestion, particularly during peak hours, resulting in smoother traffic flow and reduced travel times for all commuters, including reducing time taken to park your car and walk to the metro station
  • Reduce Carbon Footprint: Extending the on demand support would reduce carbon emissions and our overall carbon footprint
  • Economic Development: Accessible public transportation would stimulate economic growth and enhance employment opportunities in the suburbs.

I kindly request your serious consideration of this petition to extend the on demand transport service to the suburbs listed above. The included signatures represent a collective voice advocating for an improved transportation, a long overdue and a basic transportation necessity for the growing area.
