As a student at Cassiopeia who owns a vehicle, my personal journey deeply resonates with this battle against exorbitant parking ticket prices. Often, amidst the rush of the morning and trying to balance a busy academic schedule, I—like many of my peers—forget to activate parking. The result? A painful hit to my budget with a fine of 910 kr per mistake. Not only is this financially disruptive, but it is also an added stressor in our educational journey.

The steep fines, which are unaffordable for people like me who solely depend on SU for income, unfairly penalize us for minor oversights. It’s even worse for those of us who have conditions like ADHD, which can make remembering such things even more challenging.

We propose a simple and fair solution: exempt all Cassiopeia students from parking fines for a single registered vehicle per student, within the operating hours of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This way, those who contribute to the vital educational environment are not severely punished for their participation in it.
