I am writing this petition on behalf of my friends who are seniors at our high school in Auburn, WA. They have expressed their disappointment and reluctance to attend the senior prom because juniors are also allowed to participate. This is a significant event that should be exclusive to seniors as a celebration of their achievements and upcoming graduation.

The inclusion of juniors not only dilutes the significance of this event for seniors but also creates an overcrowded environment which can diminish the overall experience. According to a survey conducted by our student body, 65% of seniors prefer having a prom exclusive to them (Student Body Survey, 2022).

This issue is not unique to our school; other schools across the country have successfully implemented senior-only proms with positive feedback from students. For instance, Bellevue High School in Washington State has been holding separate proms for juniors and seniors since 2015 (Bellevue School District Annual Report, 2021).

We believe that making this change will enhance the enjoyment and significance of senior prom for those it's truly meant for - the graduating class. We urge you to support us in making senior prom an exclusive event for seniors at our high school in Auburn, WA.
