Consultation on the Council's Statement of Community Involvement ("Kingston SCI") closes today, Friday 24 May 2019. Please submit comments

You can read my comments on my website www.shahscott.com under "Analysis - Response on SCI - Local Plan"

The Kingston SCI includes the Planning Charter which is accessed through a small link towards the end of the document and reveals a new planned approach to residents as the council's "customers" alongside developers. It also reveals how much - or little - the council plans to notify us about planning applications for developments - including major developments, which could in future be for thousands of units, as well as developments that could have an ecological impact on an area

I believe that the Kingston SCI is unsound and should be withdrawn. It is time the council did more than pay lip-service to democracy and acted with residents and in our interests, rather than working with developers and attempting with every twist and turn to disenfranchise us

They worked with the GLA to set a strategy for and then agree massive large sites targets without clearly informing us of their plans. At the same time, they agreed additional large sites new homes targets with Crossrail 2 and to sneak in the "opportunity area" status that will be the death of the Royal Borough as we know it.

We know what they have done and how they have done it

Will they now start listening to us?
