The Issue

We, the undersigned residents in Orthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics, Prosthodontics, and Pedodontics, wish to express our concern regarding the recent introduction of the “Probatoire” examination.
This exam, intended to assess the cumulative knowledge of the three years of residency, has been implemented during our final year without prior notice at the time of our enrollment. It was not previously part of the residency structure or academic requirements.
Additionally, in some specialties such as Prosthodontics, residents were informed that a detailed program outlining the exam content would be provided by the end of February; however, no such information has been communicated to date.
This situation is further complicated by the current national context. Due to the ongoing war, universities are closed, academic schedules are disrupted, and residents are already facing delays in completing their thesis requirements. Introducing an unanticipated examination under these circumstances creates significant additional pressure.
We believe that the lack of prior communication, absence of clear guidelines, and current external conditions raise legitimate concerns regarding fairness and feasibility.
