JUSTICE FOR TRENT HUNT

0 have signed. Let’s get to 25,000!

On May 27th, Trent Hunt was driving in Evanston when he noticed his friend being detained by police officers at the side of the road. Hunt pulled aside, got out of his car and started recording so he could hopefully ensure that his friend was treated fairly or at the very least left the incident alive. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO RECORD! But the officers didn't see it that way and demanded that he stop recording. As can be seen, by both the video Hunt was filming at the time, an officer started following Hunt and caused him to have to evade by crossing the road. Then the officer insisted that Hunt then get out of said road he forced him into. When Hunt continued to ignore the officer's demands to stop recording, insisting that he had a right to record, the officer started pursuing him. Hunt asked on multiple occasions what he had done wrong. This incident ended with three officers slamming Hunt to the ground violently and arresting him, all while he protested that he had done nothing wrong.

*****TRIGGER WARNING ***** Videos of the incident can be seen HERE!.

EVANSTON... We cannot lift our voices in anger against police brutality in other states and not address the brutality in our own back yard.

Please sign this petition and stand in solidarity with Trent Hunt and all the entire Black Community in Evanston who are not safe to exercise their basic rights and who are targeted at a much greater rate by police.

WE DEMAND THAT:

1. ALL TRUMPED UP CHARGES AGAINST TRENT HUNT BE DROPPED

2. THERE BE AN OFFICAL INVESTIGATION OF OFFICERS VELEZ AND SHAMUS AND THE 3RD OFFICER INVOLVED IN THE AGGRESSIVE SHOW OF UNNECESSARY FORCE.

3. A PUBLIC EVANSTON COMMITTEE HAVE OVERSIGHT OF THE INVESTIGATION.
