I am Shadi Ismail, a documentary photographer and storyteller from Gaza.

For years, my camera has served as a witness to the truth, documenting stories of resilience, survival, and the human spirit through my international exhibition, “Survivor From Gaza.”

Today, however, my lens is no longer just a tool for storytelling it is a struggle for survival.

My life and the lives of my family are under immediate, grave threat.

I am writing this to urgently appeal for help to evacuate Gaza.

For years, my artistic work has bridged the gap between Gaza and the world, conveying a human narrative that transcends the headlines of conflict. With upcoming exhibitions scheduled in Spain, my evacuation has become a matter of vital urgency, not only to preserve my life but to ensure the continuity of a voice that cannot thrive, or even survive, beneath the shadow of bombardment.

My Demands:

Urgent Evacuation: I demand the establishment of immediate pathways to secure my safe passage from the Gaza Strip to Spain, where I can continue my humanitarian and artistic work in safety.

Preserving Art as Memory: The loss of an active documentary artist in a conflict zone is not just a personal tragedy, it is the erasure of a visual archive and living testimony. 

My evacuation is an act of safeguarding the collective memory of Gaza.

Humanitarian Solidarity: I call upon you to sign this petition to exert the necessary pressure on the relevant authorities to provide safe evacuation corridors and facilitate the visas required for our passage to safety.

I am asking for the right to live and the opportunity to complete the artistic work that my audience in Spain and the world is waiting for.
