STOP ANIMAL TESTING IN EUROPE

The Issue

'Dying for Detergent?'

I'm calling to the European Commission (EC), European Chemical Agency (ECHA) and The European Parliament to put an end to the suffering of animals and to uphold the ethical and moral values enshrined in the Cosmetics Regulation.

If you value animal welfare and would welcome a change in the law, then sign our petition, join the campaign and speak out against the ill treatment of animals involved in testing worldwide and more specifically Europe.

Like many others, you may be unaware of the problem surrounding household items and the use of animal testing across Europe. Used in toxicity (poisoning) tests, animals such as guinea pigs, rabbits and mice are being blinded, tortured, injected and filled with chemicals which can cause them to have organ failures, tremors, paralysis and vomiting. This causes unimaginable pain for the animal and even if they survive the tests, they are killed.

We know it doesn't have to be this way. In 2013, the law was changed meaning that cosmetics couldn't be tested on animals and sold in Europe. This was a huge step for PETA (who had been campaigning religiously) as well as the rest of the long-standing campaigners. However, REACH (the worlds largest chemical testing programme) is still able to find a loop which means that the ingredients used in a cosmetic product can still be tested using animals, despite the finished product being labelled as not tested on animals.

Furthermore, household products such as dishwasher detergent, furniture polish and air fresheners are also still tested in Europe as a law against this has not yet been published. I am calling to the EC and ECHA to never allow cosmetics, household products and there ingredients to be tested and sold in the European Market.

I am campaigning to put an end to the pain and torture inflicted on innocent animals whom without people wanting change will continue to die for the sake of us. We must speak out for the animals who's voices are not heard and we must silence REACH and put an end to the thousands of murders they commit every year.
