Establish the National Commission for Yoga and Naturopathy (NCYN)
The Issue
We, the community of BNYS (Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences) doctors, students, educators, and citizens of India, humbly submit this petition with deep faith in your vision for a Healthy India through Yoga and Natural Living.
For decades, Yoga and Naturopathy have been pillars of India’s ancient healthcare wisdom offering safe, drugless, and holistic healing to millions. Yet, despite being part of the Ministry of AYUSH, Yoga and Naturopathy currently have no Central Regulatory Council unlike Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy which are governed under the NCISM and NCH Acts (2020).
This absence of a statutory council has created widespread confusion, discrimination, and lack of recognition for qualified BNYS doctors, even though:
BNYS is a 5½-year full-time medical degree taught under State Medical Universities.
BNYS practitioners serve in AYUSH hospitals, wellness centres, and rural health missions.
The Ministry of AYUSH itself promotes Yoga and Naturopathy as key components of India’s health strategy.
Yet, without a Central Act, our graduates face uncertain legal status, unequal opportunities, and limited scope in national programs.
Our Prayer:
We respectfully urge your government to introduce in Parliament “The National Commission for Yoga and Naturopathy Bill, 2025” a legislation that will:
1. Establish a National Commission for Yoga and Naturopathy (NCYN) under the Ministry of AYUSH.
2. Recognize BNYS and MD (Yoga & Naturopathy) as statutory medical qualifications.
3. Create a National Register of Practitioners to ensure ethical, evidence-based, and uniform practice standards.
4. Empower colleges, researchers, and practitioners to contribute officially to India’s health and wellness policy.
5. Align India’s traditional knowledge leadership with global recognition of Naturopathy and Yoga.
Why This Matters
Yoga and Naturopathy are not just medical systems , they are India’s gift to the world, a foundation of preventive health and sustainable living.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Modi Ji has already made Yoga a global phenomenon through the United Nations International Day of Yoga. The next step in this great vision is to institutionalize Yoga and Naturopathy education and practice under one strong Central Council, giving it the legal and professional standing it deserves.
We Request
Immediate action by the Ministry of AYUSH to draft and approve the National Commission for Yoga and Naturopathy Bill, 2025.
Leadership from Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji to introduce the Bill in Parliament in alignment with India’s AYUSH vision.
National recognition and protection for all BNYS graduates and Yoga-Naturopathy practitioners working selflessly for public health.
We BNYS doctors, students, teachers, and citizens , join hands under this petition to support the creation of a Central Regulatory Council that will protect, empower, and advance India’s holistic health heritage for generations to come.
To help India officially recognize Yoga and Naturopathy through a Central Act
and to request our beloved Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji to introduce this Bill in Parliament.
