The Issue

To: The President of the United States, Members of Congress, State Legislatures, and Government Officials

On September 10, 2025, the United States lost an American citizen whose commitment to free speech, civil debate, and peaceful discourse stood at the heart of his public life. His death, the result of violence against his views, reflects a dangerous division within our nation and underscores the urgent need to reaffirm our most fundamental constitutional principles.

We, the undersigned, respectfully petition for the establishment of September 10th as Charlie Kirk Remembrance Day—a national day of recognition dedicated to honoring the values of free expression and open dialogue that form the cornerstone of our democracy.

This day shall serve the following purposes:

To commemorate the enduring right of free speech as guaranteed under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

To recognize the sacrifices made by countless Americans who have defended liberty and preserved the freedoms that define our nation.

To affirm that all voices—regardless of race, age, identity, or belief—are of equal worth in the American democratic process.

To provide a day of reflection and unity, reminding citizens and leaders alike that violence must never replace discourse and that disagreement must never silence dialogue.

The establishment of Charlie Kirk Remembrance Day will not only memorialize one individual’s commitment to peaceful debate but will also stand as a national reaffirmation that the freedom to speak remains an unassailable right for all Americans.
