Like many football enthusiasts, I hope for a platform that represents the unique mix of diverse cultures and national football teams in the Balkan Region of Europe. After seeing different fans of different countries being brought together by Football, I think that the Balkans can do the same. This is why I urge the “Union of European Football Associations” (UEFA) to at least look into creating a new soccer competition; the Balkan Cup.

The Balkan Cup would involve teams from 12 countries - Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Hungary, and Romania. It would use the existing rivalries, friendships, passions for “the beautiful game”, and rising talents in these nations, to bring these countries together and promote unity in their different identities.

The implementation of the Balkan Cup holds the potential to manifest a lucrative opportunity for UEFA, and spark new interest in their organization. Many people would be very intrigued by such an event, with large numbers being interested in these matches. A Balkan Cup would also promote the identity and spirit of the Balkan countries on an international stage, as countries that do not normally have the resources to do well in larger international tournaments in larger competitions would be able to achieve much greater things. We can use football to bring a divided part of the world together. Join me in advocating for the creation of the Balkan Cup.
