Please join us at the Pleasanton City Council meeting tonight (7 p.m., City Council Chamber, 200 Old Bernal Avenue) to help convince our elected officials to prioritize funding a small feasibility study to establish a train Quiet Zone. This is our last chance before the City budget is finalized for the next two years. Funding this study for as little as $25K will open the door to County, State and Federal grants to construct supplemental safety measures, required before a Quiet Zone can be approved. But first, the City must fund and conduct a Quiet Zone study.
I apologize for the short notice, but if you can possibly attend this meeting and make a brief comment in support of a Quiet Zone it could make the difference. We have been told by City Council members that the more people who attend and speak up on an issue, the more they will listen and support the issue. Your comment could be as brief as “I would like the City to establish a Quiet Zone”, or you could tell them how train noise impacts you and your family. The important thing is to speak up and be counted as a Pleasanton resident who is in favor of a Quiet Zone.
