Establish a Specialized School for Therians to Freely Express Themselves

The Issue

As a lifelong therian, I, like many others in our community, have faced ridicule, harassment, and the painful feeling of not fitting in. For us, the pursuit of a normal education is often marred with discomfort, as we are repeatedly frowned upon for expressing ourselves. One incident I vividly remember is when I was called "furry" and other derogatory terms for wearing my tail to school.

The prejudice stemmed from ignorance about therians, who have a spiritual or psychological identification with an animal. One way to curtail this ignorance is by creating an educational institution, a school for therians, that allows us to express ourselves fully, learn, and thrive.

This isn't just about building acceptance, but about mental wellbeing too. A study by Brown University showed that teens who struggled with identity and faced discrimination were twice as likely to have mental health problems ("Non-Binary and Trans Teen Mental Health: The Impact of Discrimination," Journal of Adolescent Health, 2017). An accepting education environment, like a school for therians, can help minimize this risk.

The proposed school will have Quadrobics classes, which importantly combine aerobic exercise with animal movement patterns, promoting both physical health and self-expression. Mask making classes would encourage creativity and allow students to express their therian identity visually.

With this petition, we are seeking sufficient support to appeal to the Department of Education, highlighting the need for such an institution. Together, we can foster better understanding, inclusion, and acceptance. Help us make the education experience better and safer for therians. Sign the campaign today.
