I am aware of the heartbreak gun violence inflicts. I have noticed that in situations where civilians in the United States have used their rights to bear arms to de-escalate such incidents, less lives are tragically lost compared to the 14-26 fatalities we usually suffer here in Canada. These incidents, although equally reprehensible, tend to result in no more than nine deaths. While this doesn't make them less tragic, it does show that there might be some merit in having responsible civilians being able to defend themselves under severe conditions. 

There is also the fact that crime rates in Canada have seen a significant increase due to various factors, including the rise in immigration. This is not intended to be a racist or prejudiced remark, but a mere observation based on the changing demographics and conditions in the country.

Therefore, we urge the Canadian government to consider establishing equivalent rights to the American Second Amendment, enabling upright Canadian citizens to have access to firearms for self-defense following intensive background checks. This way, not only could we witness a decrease in the devastating aftermath of gun violence, but also allow law-abiding citizens to feel safe, secure, and able to protect themselves if the need arises.

Apart from that, canadianS can also do much more than self defense, such as hunting, sports (targets), etc.
