The Issue

As a father in the Sutton community, I witness firsthand the passion our young ones have for cricket. My son, like many other children in our neighborhood, dreams of a place where he can hone his skills and enjoy the sport he loves. Unfortunately, the lack of a dedicated cricket ground in Rosehill is a significant barrier for these aspiring cricketers.

The Rosehill Recreation Ground stands as an ideal location, perfectly poised to cater to our community's needs. Its accessibility makes it a prime spot for local families looking to engage in outdoor sports and foster a sense of community spirit. Currently, the nearest cricket grounds are not within easy reach, which prevents many children and young adults from pursuing their interest in cricket.

The establishment of a cricket ground here would not only cater to the rapidly growing interest shown by our local youth, in particular families living close to the ground, but would also provide a safe, inclusive, and affordable environment for all. This lack of facilities restricts many who want to participate, leading to missed opportunities to develop talents and lifelong friendships.

Cricket is more than just a game. It teaches teamwork, determination, and resilience. Providing our children with a readily accessible cricket ground can infuse them with confidence that they can achieve anything.

I urge local authorities, especially the Sutton Council, to recognize this pressing need and act swiftly to convert a portion of the Rosehill Recreation Ground into a cricket venue. The benefits far outweigh the costs, as it will enrich lives, build stronger community bonds, and prevent young talents from slipping through the cracks due to lack of facilities.

Please lend your support by signing this petition and help us transform Rosehill Recreation Ground into a thriving hub for cricket lovers. Together, let's make this vision a reality for our children and our community.
