Establish a Rapid Transit/Subway Network in Detroit

Establish a Rapid Transit/Subway Network in Detroit
The Issue
Although I am not a resident of Detroit, with plans to build commuter rail between Ann Arbor and Detroit, a subway network should be established in Detroit to make it easier to navigate the city. Rapid transit does not generally disrupt traffic and in fact, drastically reduces traffic on city streets where it is present. Also, any form of public transportation will create jobs for people who need them, resulting in less homelessness and fewer people living in poverty.
Detroit's current public transportation system is insufficient for the needs of its residents. A rapid transit/subway network would provide an efficient and reliable mode of transport that could significantly reduce commute times and improve quality of life. According to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), every $1 billion invested in public transportation supports and creates more than 50,000 jobs.
Join me in urging local government officials to prioritize the development of a rapid transit/subway network for Detroit. Sign this petition today!
