Establish a Global Women’s Health Awareness Week
The Issue
My journey towards discovering the complexity of women’s health began with my own personal health struggles. I was continuously searching for answers, yet found myself navigating disconnected information and resources.
Through that experience, I began to understand just how interconnected women’s health can be. Hormones, reproductive health, mental health, gut health, cardiovascular health, immune health and so much more can overlap, yet information and care can often feel separated into different boxes.
And the more I learned, the more I realised how many other women were searching for answers too.
Women’s health affects every stage of our lives, yet there is currently no dedicated global awareness week bringing all of these conversations together. That is why I believe we need an official Global Women’s Health Awareness Week.
We already have incredibly important awareness days and weeks for individual conditions and areas of health. This wouldn’t replace them. Instead, it would create a shared moment each year to bring women’s health together as a whole, raising awareness, sharing trusted information and new research, highlighting overlooked and under-researched conditions, and bringing researchers, healthcare professionals, charities, policymakers and the public into the same conversation.
Most importantly, it would create a dedicated moment every year when women’s health is a global conversation.
One week won’t solve every challenge in women’s health. But greater awareness can lead to better understanding, better conversations and greater attention to the research and changes that are still needed.
I created Her Health Digest because I believe women should be able to understand their health without having to search endlessly for answers. This campaign is an extension of that mission.
If you believe women’s health deserves a dedicated place on the global calendar, please sign this petition and help establish a Global Women’s Health Awareness Week.
