Kind Attn: San Jose City Council (District 5) & Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS)

As a San Jose resident and owner of two active dogs, Cimarron Park is a central part of my family's daily routine. With its popular playground, basketball courts, and walking trails, it is already a fantastic hub for our neighborhood—bringing together kids, athletes, and families every day. However, it is missing one critical feature to serve all local residents: a safe, fenced off-leash area for dogs.

Currently, local pet owners must drive along busy corridors like Piedmont Road just to reach the nearest enclosed dog area. Adding a fenced dog space alongside Cimarron Park's existing amenities would elevate the park into a truly complete, multi-use community space that neighbors can access on foot.

Why this matters for our entire community:

• Safety for Everyone: A double-gated enclosure keeps off-leash dogs safely contained, ensuring children at the play area, basketball players, and trail walkers can enjoy their activities without interruption.
• Cleaner Park Grounds: Centralizing dog activity makes waste management easier and protects the open turf fields and walking paths for non-dog users.
• A Complete Neighborhood Asset: Enhancing an already vibrant park with a dedicated dog area maximizes its value, reduces unnecessary car trips, and keeps our neighborhood connected.
