Establish a Family Court Crisis Committee in Florida

Establish a Family Court Crisis Committee in Florida
The Issue
Last week, I managed to have my family court judge disqualified for bias, after enduring a year of unethical and fraudulent acts and practices by paid family court offcials that have been detrimental to the well-being of my children and myself. It's a common issue it seems… attorneys work together, extending divorce litigation unnecessarily, putting financial, emotional and psychological strains on families. This is not just my story but a shared experience among many who navigate through the family court system in Florida.
The state of Arizona has now exposed this National crisis with public hearings this week, allowing family court victims to testify to the atrocities they have been subjected to at the hands of judges, attorneys and court-ordered professionals that often cause more trauma to the families rather than offering any help. These testimonies are hard to watch but they need to be heard to make change. And we need the same type of forum in Florida to express the very same grievances.

Family courts are supposed to prioritize the best interests of the children, but too often, they fall short. Attorneys and judges, sometimes unknowingly, become part of a system that favors prolonged legal battles over swift and fair resolutions. This not only affects the parents but most importantly, the children, whose lives are significantly impacted during these drawn-out proceedings.
We urgently need a public hearing and the establishment of a Family Court Crisis Committee in the Florida legislature. Such a committee would oversee the actions of family court judges, attorneys, and parenting coordinators, ensuring they adhere to ethical standards and focus on the expedited delivery of justice. By having oversight, we can hold these individuals accountable and make sure they are truly acting in the best interest of families.
An oversight committee can offer transparency and restore trust in the family court system. They could introduce reforms, including mandatory training programs for judges and lawyers to deal more ethically and efficiently with family cases. Accountability measures and reviews by an independent body can ensure that the cycle of bias and manipulation ends. Cameras in the courtroom would help tremendously.
This issue goes beyond individual cases—it calls for systemic change to protect millions of Florida families from undue hardship. Working together, we can advocate for changes that will not only support parents during critical times but, most importantly, protect the welfare of children who deserve stability and justice.
Sign this petition to demand that the Florida legislature take immediate action to hold public hearings and form a Family Court Crisis Committee, paving the way for a fairer, more just family court system.
