I am not a resident of San Antonio, but as someone who cares deeply about the infrastructure and quality of life in our major cities, I believe it's time for change. Despite being the second largest city in Texas, San Antonio lacks a commuter rail or regional rail network. This is surprising given that it is ranked as the 53rd-most congested city in the U.S., according to INRIX Global Traffic Scorecard.

Cities like Dallas have already recognized the importance of such networks; their Trinity Railway Express has become an integral part of their transport system. Similarly, when Metrolink was established in Los Angeles back in 1991, it drastically reduced traffic congestion and improved commute times for thousands of residents.

San Antonio deserves no less. A commuter rail network would not only alleviate traffic congestion but also provide an environmentally friendly alternative to driving and improve accessibility across the city.
