More determined...

After attending the Wigtown Community Council meeting last night I am even more determined to do everything we can to make this happen. Our local councillors are equally as determined and are doing everything in their power to reinstate all forms of financial and postal services to Wigtown, but higher up - not so much it seems.
Armed with more information and more fire the CC is going back to LINK, who seem to have the final say, to argue our position but they need the definitive backing of the Wigtown community and surrounding areas. Please, if you've not already done so, spread the word to your friends, family and neighbours so that we can present as many signatures of support for this cause to the banks and LINK and Post Office Counters. The argument for not establishing a Banking Hub in Wigtown is that there's not enough population or enough businesses to warrant it - we need to prove them wrong. In the whole of the Machars peninsula (including Newton Stewart) we have only one dedicated Post Office, four other small counters - three of which are placed in a retail situation - and just one bank in Newton Stewart. This is unacceptable and the statement that "it's happening everywhere" is unacceptable also - we are talking about the Royal Burgh of Wigtown and the surrounding rural areas - why should we be told to lie down and accept this. Please help if you can.
