Establish a 24/7 Resource Center and Shelter at 2000 N. Lincoln Avenue, Loveland

The Issue

I, Shane Ritter, believe that every human being has fundamental rights- food, clean water, and shelter being three of the most crucial.

I was living unhoused for a significant period of time. I suffered from addiction and mental health challenges that left me unemployable and incapable of sustaining a home.

My story did not begin that way.

I have a loving family, a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University, and had a thriving business. All of that slipped away, and I found myself living on the streets for years.

I have been clean and in active recovery for over ten years now.

I am a loving father, a homeowner, and once again operate a successful business.

I  am also an engaged community advocate and activist in Loveland, Colorado.

I hold an advisory position on the Larimer County Opioid Abatement Council, and am a two time past president of the Downtown Loveland Lion’s Club.

I did not find recovery, stability, or success without support. The most crucial first step was having a safe, stable place to sleep at night.

Our city desperately needs a more comprehensive solution to assist our unhoused and underserved residents. The temporary day shelter at Loveland Resource Center and the overnight shelter at the South Railroad Facility are insufficient. The facilities are in disrepair, and tents are not viable for the long term.

Furthermore, these separate facilities pose logistical difficulties for those they aim to serve. The dispersed resources are a misuse of taxpayer dollars.

Community partners have identified the First Christian Church at 2000 N. Lincoln Avenue as an ideal location for a 24/7 Resource Center and Shelter. This will provide continuous, all-encompassing aid for the unhoused community in a centralized location. Implementing this solution will prove to be a more effective and efficient means of providing services to our most vulnerable members of the community.

Every human being deserves a place they can turn to for safety and support at any time. Join us in urging local authorities to transform 2000 N. Lincoln Avenue into a 24/7 Resource Center and Shelter.

Please sign this petition, and let us take crucial steps towards a more cohesive and caring community in Loveland, Colorado. For more information please visit the following website www.homewardalliance.org/hwa/loveland-lead-agency/
