There comes a time in everyone's life where you think, WOW, that was a life changing moment. If you personally have not had that moment yourself, perhaps you have witnessed it. Sean Smith had the honor of both of those taking place for him on September 26, 2014. Sean Smith has played 15 years in the minor leagues and has hit many home runs, made fantastic plays in the outfield and has been part of many winning teams including 5 Championship teams (2 with Pittsburgh Pirates Organization, 1 with Chicago White Sox Organization, and 2 with the Atlantic League Somerset Patriots, which were the first in league history to win back to back titles). . However, on this particular night Sean did something he has never done before. He had his life changing moment. Not only did he do something beyond courrageous, showcase his preservance and let's not forget to mention love for the game but he reached thousands of people. On the biggest crowd in post game history for the York Revolution, Sean hit a game-tying homerun, tore his patella tendon rounding first base, and hopped on one leg around the bases to score and tie the game. See folks, we are not talking about any kind of game tying homerun at a playoff game, not a diving catch near the wall, we are talking about perhaps a once in a lifetime event that took place that night. This inspirational moment, which for many people still say was the best moment of their lives moved many. This moment changed lives. Want to know why? Because Sean represents a man of faith, dedicated, determined person who has pure love for the game and will not walk off that field unti he has given every ounce of him to it. He represents more than just himself. He is representing all those who have given their whole lives to this game. Whom have sacrificed their life and time with their families day in and day out for a small chance of achieving something great in this game of baseball. So for this showcase of determination to not be recognized in some way would disappoint many. This particular moment did not just reach those in attendance but also received over 1 million views on youtube in just 2 days, reached the newsrooms of Good Morning America, was number 1 on ESPN's Sportscenter top 10 plays, Yahoo, Bleacher Report, Intentional Talk, Fox News, CBS 21 to name a few and most recently featured in an article in Baseball America Magazine (http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/sean-smith-keeps-saying-goodbye-baseball-keeps-saying-hello/) I am starting this petition so that all those that have sacrificed so much in this game and love this game know that they have a chance too and although. His moment you see wasn't just his moment it was everyone else's too. may not play on national tv, nor have tens of thousands of fans in the stands know that when something great happens in sports history, it will be recognized in some way on the biggest night for sports achievement there is. Providing Sean Smith the opportunity to share his story will inspire many as it already has.
