Hawaii's high cost of living affects every Hawaii resident in one way or another. Respected Hawaii economists have identified the "cost of housing" and "electricity" as the driving forces behind Hawaii's high cost of living. These economists suggest Honolulu City Council Members need to pass legislation to increase the property tax for "non-resident home owners". They also suggest state leaders need to take steps to control the price of electricity.
