City of LA: You Have Blood on Your Hands Now

Larry and Julia Cannon have been the victims of heinous crimes.
Larry, a decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran married Julia last spring in this beautiful ceremony captured on video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MfrtN_Pqok&feature=youtu.be
But while Larry has been recovering from a seizure in hospital, his wife Julia has been RAPED repeatedly by some very bad men.
And that's not all. Larry has been beaten and robbed of his monthly pension numerous times. Both of them have had guns pointed at their faces.
And NONE of this would have happened if the City of Los Angeles didn't seek to confiscate and destroy their Tiny Home. For the past few months, Julia and Larry have been forced to live back on the streets.
Right now, both Julia and Larry are safe (Elvis Summers reassured me).
And just yesterday, Elvis informed us via his Facebook page:
"I've been practically living in hospitals all week. This time it's Smokie. She's all swollen up like a balloon, blood pressures pretty high and has a lot of pain ... hopefully results of the tests will be done soon so we know more."
I asked Elvis about Smokie's status and he told me: "Don't know about Smokie yet I have to go see her."
And when Elvis Summers pounded on that steel door (in the video) I couldn't help but ask him about the doors and locks he uses. Here's what I found out:
Elvis buys from Home Depot and lists the materials he uses on MYTHPLA.org: http://www.mythpla.org/materials.html
The doors are JELD-WEN Premium Galvanized Steel. In 1960, JELD-WEN started as a small Oregon millwork plant with 15 employees and has grown to about 20,000 employees in over 100 locations in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
In 1969, the JELD-WEN Foundation was established and continues to be dedicated to providing financial assistance through grants, scholarships, and matching JELD-WEN employees’ voluntary United Way donations: http://www.jeld-wen.com/en-us/about/company/quality
The Nickel Keyed Entry Knob and Deadbolt Combo is made by Kwikset (an industry leader) which has provided trusted security for over 60 years. These come with a lifetime mechanical and finish warranty. http://www.kwikset.com
I also noticed this statement on Elvis Summers' Welcome Home: A Tiny House, Huge Purpose Facebook page info: https://www.facebook.com/mythpla/info/?tab=page_info
"Big big Thank you to Rick Sasseen of Allied Building Supply! He Donated the Roof Materials and The Cedar Siding for Project Smokie and without it I couldn't have finished Smokie's House! Kudos!"
And I was reminded that Elvis Summers isn't a millionaire that embarked on this journey to house the homeless; he could not have finished the first Tiny Home without Rick Sasseen's help.
So I decided to list the partners that support Elvis Summers' humanitarian vision in hopes that we can (as a society) support these businesses that are helping our homeless friends and fellow citizens.
BUSINESSES WE NEED TO SUPPORT:
Allied Building Products Corp. began in 1950 as a family-operated roofing and custom sheet metal business that now has over 200 locations across the U.S. For residential and commercial roofing, waterproofing, and siding: http://www.alliedbuilding.com/Branches/CA/LosAngeles/LOSA
Good News Network was the first network to launch Elvis Summers' story about building "Smokie's" house: http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org
Cause 4 Paws is on the streets of Los Angeles to help the homeless and their furbaby companions: http://www.cause-4-paws.com/#!projects/c21kz
Huts for Hope are fellow Tiny House builders. They provide portable emergency shelters for people in need of a dry, warm place to sleep and keep their belongings: https://www.facebook.com/PortableHomelessShelters
Small Act Big Change inspires children to make positive changes in the world through service and small acts of kindness: http://smallactsbigchange.org
LA On Cloud 9 supplies the homeless, less fortunate and their pets with much needed items from donations and with the help of volunteers: http://www.laoncloud9.org
Nora Hilda founder of the group Helping The Homeless In Need - San Pedro "Planting Seeds of Compassion" https://www.facebook.com/groups/1435150846776428
I asked Elvis about the Tiny Homes the City of LA was supposed to return and if they are STILL locked up and he replied:
"They haven't said yet. I emailed them the permission letter on church letterhead they wanted this morning ... just waiting for their reply." He added, "Yes, the homes are still locked up."
The point is: there is ample land available and thousands of unused, vacant city lots. There is no excuse.
This humanitarian crisis cannot wait and it is egregiously negligent for City of Los Angeles Council members to do nothing.
I'll keep you posted,
Rose
