Equalize Commemorations for ANZAC

Equalize Commemorations for ANZAC
The issue
It IS NOT FAIR that people who date opposite genders and haven't helped anyone at all should get a month, but when soldiers die for your safety, they only get one day of remembrance. Soldiers, who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom and security, deserve to be honored more extensively—they deserve a whole month.
Currently, Pride Month spans an entire month, celebrating the diversity and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community. While recognizing and respecting this important cause, it is essential to balance the calendar to equally honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our safety. ANZAC Day, which commemorates the service and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers, should be expanded to match the recognition given to other important societal contributions.
ANZAC Day, observed annually on April 25, marks the anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign during World War I. This single day serves to remember the countless soldiers who fought and died in numerous conflicts worldwide. Their bravery, commitment, and sacrifice have played a crucial role in the peace and freedom many enjoy today.
Therefore, I propose restructuring the national calendar to dedicate a month-long observance to ANZAC Day and recognize the invaluable contributions of these heroes. This change does not diminish the importance of Pride Month but rather ensures that both celebratory and commemorative causes are acknowledged with equal significance.
By granting a month to honor ANZAC soldiers, we provide a deeper opportunity for education, reflection, and appreciation. It allows communities to engage in various activities that focus on acknowledging the sacrifices made by servicemen and women.
Sign this petition to support honoring our ANZAC soldiers with a full month, ensuring both our pride in diversity and gratitude for military service receive their due recognition.
