Epic Games: Release a New Official Fortnite Trading Card Series

Epic Games: Release a New Official Fortnite Trading Card Series
The Issue
Epic Games and Panini partnered in 2019 to create and distribute official Fortnite trading cards in major retailers across the United States. The cards quickly developed a passionate collector base, and many fans eagerly anticipated future releases. However, after Series 3, no new official Fortnite trading card series were announced. Collectors are still left without clarity as to whether Epic Games plans to license or produce new Fortnite trading cards nearly half a decade later.
Fortnite is a cultural phenomenon that has captivated millions of fans around the world. Its characters, maps, cosmetics, and competitive moments were utilized when creating these cards. Making new cards and putting effort towards improving upon the old series could offer us collectors an avenue to further extend our passion beyond the digital realm. For many of us, Fortnite was a major part of our younger years. Even if we no longer have as much time to play as we once did, the cards allow us to hold onto the memories that made Fortnite special.
We are urging Epic Games to explore new partnerships with established trading card manufacturers who will prioritize high-quality designs and production.
Some of the community's most requested ideas to improve upon the old Fortnite trading card series include:
1. In-game redemption codes:
One of the most exciting ways to increase demand would be having some of the rarer cards feature unique in-game skin/emote/pickaxe/backbling/etc. redemption codes. This has been a proven strategy in video games and keeps the players engaged. Fortnite has already shown how powerful cosmetic redemptions can be through past promotions when they released the Galaxy skin, which was made available to people who purchased a Galaxy Note 9 or TabS4 in 2018. The promotion led to a sizable increase in pre-orders for the Note 9 and generated large amounts of social media impressions.
2. Creator and professional player signature cards:
We LOVE interacting with the entertaining and talented Fortnite professionals. If there was a chance of getting a signed pro card, featuring people like Ninja, Bugha, or Sypher PK, fans would go to great lengths trying to acquire them.
3. Backgrounds to the cards that are inspired by the gameplay:
Trading card products succeed because the cards feel visually exciting. A new Fortnite series could improve on past releases by showing characters in recognizable locations, live-event scenes, or map-inspired backgrounds instead of relying mostly on single colored backdrops. Fortnite has a rich visual world, and the cards should reflect that.
4. Numbered cards:
Fortnite players and collectors love rarity and the thrill of the chase. Numbered cards such as /999, /250, /100, /50, /25, /10, and true 1-of-1 cards would make the product far more exciting. Holding an x/100 Holofoil Renegade Raider or Black Knight would be a memory many of us would cherish forever.
While the original Fortnite trading card releases may not have reached their full potential, the collector base that remains is highly engaged. We continue to buy, sell, trade, grade, and discuss these cards years after the last official series. We care about what Epic Games created. We are not asking for massive production. Even a limited release would mean a great deal to the community. We simply want the opportunity to collect new official Fortnite cards.
We still see significant potential for a new Fortnite trading card series, especially at a time when major entertainment card products continue to perform strongly. Franchises such as Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Lorcana, and Star Wars show that physical cards still have major appeal. A modern Fortnite card series could increase engagement and create value beyond the game itself.
By signing this petition, we are showing Epic Games that the Fortnite trading card community is still here. We believe official Fortnite cards deserve another chance. Please sign and share this petition to help show Epic Games that there is real demand for a new official Fortnite trading card series.
