Citizens against Project Donkey Kong a.k.a Project Highlands a.k.a Geer St Truck terminal

The Issue

We the undersigned are against the construction of the 1 million square foot distribution center/ truck terminal/ warehouse project proposed by Scannell Properties, on the Gardner nursery property on Geer Street and Shunpike Rd known as “Project Donkey Kong”.

We oppose the granting of any special permit or consideration through inland wetlands or planning and zoning for this project to move forward.

We are also opposed to any special tax considerations that are given to this project.

Those undersigned state that this project does not meet current inland wetland and planning and zoning regulations.  It also does not meet the community standard for what is an acceptable project in an residential neighborhood, next to homes, parks and schools.

The size and scope of this project is completely inappropriate for the neighborhood that the property is in, not to mention the destruction of a natural habitat for hundreds of different species of wildlife that live on the property.

The signees oppose a project that forces people from there homes, due to the disruption in their lives that the construction of this monstrosity brings, and the negative impact a project of this magnitude would bring to the surrounding community.
