Hi All
With the summer holidays over, we are now only 6 weeks away from our landmark hearing regarding Natural England’s refusal to review any lynx license application from any party, at any time. The Head of Natural England, Tony Juniper has spoken very positively about lynx reintroduction and the Uk are signed up to various conventions and treaties, regarding the restoration of biodiversity. All this in our opinion makes the government position untenable and very challengeable.
There has Been a very interesting development. Earlier in the year, a journalist at the Times newspaper submitted an Environmental Information Request to the government, regarding species reintroductions ,including lynx. The reponse he got back was extremely evasive with large parts redacted. Information on lynx was conspicuous by its absence. It appeared that they have something to hide and so our legal team followed up requesting the information under the ‘duty of candour’.
Well, just this morning, the Government’s legal team have responded and completed refused to disclose the redated information. This is both concerning and raises even more suspicion. One thing is clear, whatever the documents contain, they don’t want the public or our legal team to see it.
As you know we will not give up and we will follow up with a direct application to the court.
Our case will shape the future of Rewilding in the UK for years to come. It is a case we can and must win. We have solicitors and two Barristers working on this case. The stakes are high, we are suing the Government.
We can only keep fighting with your continued help and we need your support more than ever.

Let’s ensure that the lynx returns to the UK where it rightfully belongs.
Keep watching as there will be many more updates to come in the run up to the hearing.
Sincere thanks as always
