Ensure the Responsible Use of Green Space in Telfair

The Issue

In the heart of Sugar Land, TX, the Telfair subdivision faces an urgent challenge. Forty-two acres of green space (originally acquired by Fort Bend ISD for a planned high school and sports fields) are now up for sale and at serious risk of irresponsible development.

Currently zoned for single-family housing, the land could easily be rezoned for dense multifamily or commercial use. Such a change would erase all this cherished green space, worsen traffic, and strain existing infrastructure - fundamentally altering the northern half of Telfair.

The environmental and quality-of-life consequences are too great to ignore. We urge local officials to reject any rezoning proposals and ensure that any future residential development respects and preserves Telfair’s green character.

We call upon residents of Telfair and nearby subdivisions to stand with us to protect these 42 acres from any irresponsible development and thereby keep our community’s balance of nature and urban convenience.

Sign this petition to preserve the beauty and livability of Telfair for generations to come.
