Ensure Strict Evaluation of Emotional Support and Service Dog Registrations

The Issue

Constant disturbances in my neighborhood by so-called emotional support and service dogs have prompted me to initiate this plea for change. Many of us have had our peace interrupted, our properties damaged, and safety compromised due to the lack of control and discipline over these animals. It's become abundantly clear that there is a need for more stringent checking of these animals' documentation and registrations. According to the American Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals must be trained to work or perform tasks for people with disabilities, but there seems to be a gap in the implementation of these guidelines. The divide comes from what appears to be inadequately assessed emotional support animal requests. There's a growing concern whether some handlers are exploiting this system causing an upheaval in our everyday lives. Therefore, we urge the entities in charge, be it local or national, to thoroughly examine all cases of emotional support animals and service dog registrations. We ask for standardized procedures to assess and verify these applications to ensure that only genuine cases receive such privileged status. No one should be allowed to exploit the kindness offered to those truly in need. Please, support this cause to ensure peace and safety in our neighborhoods. Sign the petition today.
