Ensure safe return to school after threats not only for our children but our educators!

The Issue

As a parent who's' child goes to these schools I need to feel reassured to send my daughters to a safe place and know that they feel safe and they don't need to fear these kids coming back and going through with these threats next year! Not saying that they can't go to school but they don't need to be on our campus were others are going to fear them! They can go to an alternative school or online!! These kids should not have to pay the consequences of the three kids who wanted to make threats towards our children and educators!! Our educators deserve to feel safe as well!

I am writing this petition with a heavy heart and as the concerned parent of a victim. Out children were recently victims of a terrorist threat at school, perpetrated by other students. As any parent would know, the thought of your child being in danger at a place where they are supposed to be safe is utterly terrifying. The aftermath of such an event is equally concerning as it affects not only the immediate victims but also their families and the wider community.

The reality we face in today's world includes the unfortunate presence of threats within our educational system. For many students, school is a sanctuary, a place of learning and growth. However, when these safe havens become targets for violence, it disrupts the educational experience and creates an environment filled with fear and uncertainty.

After these terrifying incidents, many schools have chosen not to allow children back on campus until they are deemed 'safe' again, often causing lengthy disruptions in their education. This approach, though possibly well-intentioned, inadvertently punishes the victims and instills further anxiety and unidentified trauma.

We need a careful and balanced response to these threats. Safety must remain our top priority, but it should not come at the cost of our children's education and mental well-being. I urge our school districts, administrators, and lawmakers to develop a comprehensive plan that addresses the safety and educational needs of students post-threats. This plan should include threat assessment protocols, improved communication between law enforcement and schools, and counseling support for affected students.

We cannot allow fear to dictate our children's future. By signing this petition, you join me in calling for a safer, more supportive school system that prioritizes both safety and uninterrupted learning. Let's work together to ensure our kids can return to school after a threat, equipped with the right support and security to aid in their healing process. Please sign this petition to demand immediate changes that emphasize the need for timely and secure measures in our schools.
