The Issue

My best friend's son suffered from severe symptoms due to mold toxicity. We believe it was acquired from the school classroom. This dire situation extends beyond him, as numerous other students and faculty members have stepped forward with alarming health issues believed to stem from poor air quality and mold exposure in our local schools. Our children's well-being is at stake.

The climate of Florida, is notorious for its high humidity levels, making it an environment where mold and other allergens can thrive. When combined with inadequate or irregular air quality testing, the risk to students and staff becomes unacceptably high.  Addressing this issue requires immediate action by implementing regular air quality assessments and comprehensive mold inspections in every school to protect our young learners.
Furthermore, there are concerns over the placement of 5G towers in close proximity to schools. Emerging research suggests that these towers could pose various health risks, and therefore, it is imperative that they should not be located within a mile of any school. With children spending more hours in school than at home during an average school day, ensuring they are in a safe and healthy environment is paramount.

We call on the local education authorities and policymakers in Palm Beach Gardens & south Florida to take swift and decisive actions. Implement routine air quality checks and mold inspections in every school, and establish regulations to keep 5G towers at a safe distance from educational institutions. By doing so, we can create a healthier learning environment for our children, safeguarding their health and future.

Based on Florida Statutes and Regulations:

1. Chapter 381, Florida Statutes – Public Health: General Provisions

This chapter outlines the responsibilities of the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) concerning environmental health, including IAQ and toxicology:

Environmental Health Surveillance: FDOH conducts surveillance by collecting and analyzing data on public health and exposure to hazardous substances through sampling and testing of water, air, or foods. This includes an IAQ testing and monitoring program to assess health risks from exposure to chemical, physical, and biological agents indoors.
Toxicology and Hazard Assessment: The department performs toxicological and human health risk assessments of exposure to toxic agents. This supports determinations by the State Health Officer of safe levels of contaminants in water, air, or food and includes issuing health advisories to protect public health.
