We the undersigned are deeply concerned about the extreme cruelty and killing of a sheep, by two young male agricultural students. This heinous act, which caused immense suffering to the sheep, was carried out purely for their own perverted amusement. 

 We therfore urge the judicial system to apply the maximum sentence and to mandate psychological counselling and rehabilitation programs for the two young men. Numerous studies have shown a clear link between violence to animals and future violence towards humans. Such actions cannot and should not be treated lightly.

.Furthermore, academic institutions, especially those focused on agriculture and animal husbandry, should integrate ethical treatment and humane education into their curriculum.
