The Issue

The brave individuals of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force dedicate their lives to safeguarding our nation, displaying unparalleled bravery and commitment. Yet, in their twilight years, many of these veterans encounter financial & health challenges.

In Army jawans were recruited under NER / MER entry... implying most of the Retirees had 10th class or Below 10th Class level of education

and most of the Veer Naries are illiterate being from far flung rural areas.

They experience different types of difficulties under the present system of ECHS.

Why seek Contribution from Ex-Servicemen for their medical treatment.

Let it be a matter of national honor and duty to ensure that those who have protected us are in turn, protected by guaranteeing them 100% free medical treatment at Military Hospitals as against the present system of ECHS / Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme.

No contribution from Retirees be asked for...

While the Military Hospitals across India are designed to serve the defense personnel and their dependents, retirees often find themselves in a dire situation as the healthcare system does not fully cover their medical expenses. This financial strain makes it exceedingly difficult for them to access necessary and timely medical care, impacting their health and wellbeing significantly.

According to the Ministry of Defence, India has over 2.5 million retired armed forces personnel, a number expected to grow in the coming years. Despite their invaluable service, these retirees face substantial obstacles in accessing comprehensive healthcare services. It is imperative that the government acknowledges their sacrifice and institutes policies that afford them unconditional access to free healthcare at the Military Hospitals

Providing free medical treatment to retired personnel not only honors our veterans but also reflects our nation's values of respect, appreciation, and care for those who have served the country.

By implementing this policy, we can ensure that the brave men and women who have defended India's sovereignty can live their post-service lives with the dignity and security they deserve.

The implementation of such a policy requires the collaboration of the Ministry of Defence and the health sector to allocate necessary resources and establish systems that ensure smooth access to these crucial services for our veterans.

Additionally, this initiative can be a model of comprehensive veteran care that other countries can look to and emulate besides motivating youths to join Armed Forces.

Sign this petition to urge the Government of India to prioritize the health and well-being of its retired armed forces personnel by guaranteeing them free medical treatment at Military Hospitals. Let us come together to honor and support our heroes in their time of need.
