On Sunday, the 7th of September, around 18:00, a heinous crime was uncovered at the Lion Park Informal Settlement. 3-year-old Warona was discovered by a community member on top of a 28-year-old Mlungisi Dlodlo’s shack, having suffered unimaginable violence. Warona was brutally raped and had her throat slit. She is currently in a coma.
This horrendous act has shaken our community to its core, raising serious concerns about the safety of children and the efficiency of our legal system in bringing perpetrators to justice. In another distressing development, a 15-year-old's assault case against Mlungisi Dlodlo had its charges dropped due to a missing docket, highlighting further inefficiencies in legal proceedings and another rape murder suspected to be committed by the accused is being investigated.
The community is demanding that authorities ensure all legal processes related to these incidents are conducted fairly and swiftly. There is an urgent need for prompt action to prevent the miscarriage of justice and to restore faith in our judicial system.
We urge law enforcement agencies to investigate these cases thoroughly and to bring the accused to trial without unnecessary delays. The protection of our women and children; and the integrity of our legal framework depend on it. The accountability of those responsible for such crimes must be assured, and steps should be made to fortify our community against such future atrocities.
Stand with us in advocating for justice for Warona and other victims who have been denied fairness and safety. Sign this petition to demand swift and fair legal action.
