Ensure full sentence is served for violent crime

The Issue

A horrific act of violence has shaken us to our core. A 20-year-old military dependent, cherished daughter, and aspiring youth, was brutally stabbed multiple times in the face. This young woman has undergone numerous surgeries and faces a lifetime of physical and emotional scars due to this senseless act of violence fueled by jealousy. It is an understatement to say that the impact of this crime has devastated her and her family.

Furthermore, the perpetrator, who wielded the weapon, has a history marred by violence. Shockingly, she has been protected from appropriate legal consequences multiple times due to her father’s influential position within the Royal Air Force.  Despite a pattern of aggressive behavior, she was only sentenced to 14 months in a Cypriot jail for this grievous bodily harm (section 18) crime. Now, she is attempting to have her sentence reduced to a suspended one, after serving a mere three weeks.

This is not justice. This is an outrage, not only against the survivor of this heinous crime but against justice itself. The leniency shown to her undermines the legal system and sets a dangerous precedent where violence is excused based on connections and nepotism.

The survivor and her family have endured unimaginable emotional turmoil, having waited several months for the trial. To have the assailant receive a lenient sentence already felt like a gross injustice. Reducing her sentence even further would erode their faith in justice and strip them of the hope they desperately cling to for healing and closure.

We demand fairness and accountability in the judicial system. This girl must serve her full 14-month sentence as ordered by the court, for the survivor, for her family, and for all victims of violence. It is crucial to send a clear message that no one is above the law regardless of their family’s stature.

Please sign this petition to ensure that the lenient sentence, passed in court martial, is at least served in full. justice is promptly and support the family in their quest for peace and righteousness. Let us stand together to uphold justice and protect the rights of those who have suffered from violence.
