Ensure Financial Literacy Education is Available in Every American Classroom

Ensure Financial Literacy Education is Available in Every American Classroom
The Issue
At Operation HOPE, we believe that financial literacy is the civil rights issue of this generation. It's a personal matter to us because we understand the crucial role that financial education plays in empowering individuals and communities.
Operation HOPE CEO John Hope Bryant was a 9-year-old student in South Central Los Angeles when a banker taught a class in financial literacy that changed his life. That encounter sparked his entrepreneurial drive, which evolved into his current success today as one of America's leading Black business leaders.
In 1992, it also drove him to create Operation HOPE in response to the civil unrest that followed the acquittal of the officers involved in the Rodney King beating. Operation HOPE is now the largest, on-the-ground financial literacy nonprofit in the U.S., having served over 4 million individuals and directed $4.2 billion in capital to underserved communities.
Tied to Bryant's latest book, Financial Literacy for All, this petition is part of a "Campaign For America" launched by Operation HOPE in which everyday Americans can advance financial literacy for themselves and their communities. We are asking America to:
1. Sign this Change.org petition calling on Congress to ensure financial literacy is taught in every classroom in America.
2. Connect with an Operation HOPE coach at no charge and get started on the journey to the financial future you want to achieve. W
3. Start a 700 Credit Score Club. Challenge your friends, family, or coworkers to join you on the journey to a 700+ credit score, in-person or online.
4. Start Your Own Business. Sign-up with our 1MBB program to accelerate your entrepreneurial dreams today.
5. Sponsor a Financial Literacy for All book at your local library or school.
You can learn more or sign-up at "Campaign For America".
In today's complex economic environment, understanding basic financial concepts such as budgeting, saving, investing and borrowing has become more important than ever. Yet according to a study by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), only 57% of Americans feel confident about their financial knowledge.
We urge Congress to ensure that every classroom in America includes comprehensive financial literacy education as part of its curriculum. This will not only equip our young people with the skills they need to navigate their personal finances but also contribute towards reducing income inequality and promoting economic mobility.
By signing this petition, you are taking a stand for an educated future where every American has the tools they need to make informed financial decisions. Let's make financial education a priority today for a brighter, more secure tomorrow!
